The List has not changed much in the last six weeks. There is a merely-apparent decrease of one brewery: I moved Groundswell’s Grantville location from the brewery section to the tasting room section (they actually stopped brewing there quite a while ago). Groundswell also opened their second tasting room, in Chula Vista, directly across the street from newcomer 3 Punk Ales. Finest Made Ales closed their tasting room in Santee.
Despite the sad closing of two Council Brewing locations, Acoustic Ales not having current production, and a scare for Benchmark Brewing, the opening of Double Peak Brewing in San Marcos and the start of contract-brewing-while-it-builds-out for Harland Brewing means San Diego craft beer saw only a net decrease of 1 brewery in December 2018.
I did not drink beer at Hodad’s original location in Ocean Beach. I recommend you don’t, too.

The Helm’s tasting room is a fairly recent and worthy addition to the thriving craft beer scene in Ocean Beach. Offering friendly service, good beers and a perfect location for people-watching, you will enjoy your visit. RECOMMENDED.
Since my September update, one brewery closed and two breweries opened. One tasting room opened. San Diego has a total of 158 breweries plus 39 tasting rooms and 14 non-San Diego craft brewpubs for a total of 211 locations, a net increase of two over last month.
