Intergalactic Brewing, Miramar [CLOSED]
[Note added 7/24/2018: Intergalactic has announced that their final day of operation will be 7/31/2018.]
Intergalactic is in Miramar very close to Mira Mesa and Scripps Ranch. That means it is smack-dab in the middle of a whole host of great breweries. It fits, but it doesn’t stand out above the rest.
The room is spare and almost undecorated, but it does have plenty of seating. The service was great–very friendly, informative about the beers, and helpful. Parking was no problem. One advantage they have over some breweries in the area is that they are open every day (there are a lot of places that take a “brewing day” on Mondays and/or Tuesdays).
I tried three of the sixteen beers on my visit.
Astro Amber Ale (5.3% ABV) won gold (2015) and silver (2016) at the Los Angeles International Beer Competition. It is a very nice amber. 3.75/5
Space Oasis (Coconut Porter with Espresso, 7% ABV). I thought the coconut was a little too over-powering, and it tasted too “liquor-y.” The base porter was okay but kind of invisible. 3.25/5
Grabthar’s Dry Stout (4.5% ABV). It was just fine, but unremarkable. 3/5
You won’t regret coming here if you are on a beer tour around Beeramar and environs.
