The Belching Beaver tap room in Ocean Beach is a good spot, with 20 high tables that have 2 to 4 seats each. It is a comfortable room that attracts the active young crowd you would expect in OB. The place can fill up even on ordinary weeknights.
The couple of times I have been to this location the service has been good. On the occasion of this review, I ordered a pint of Belching Beaver’s nearly-famous Peanut Butter Stout and it didn’t taste quite right–the bartender offered to re-pour from a different keg and didn’t charge me for a second beer. Can’t ask for more than that.
Belching Beaver OB is directly across the street from Culture Brewing, which makes a great two-fer. Seating is much better at Belching, so drop in first to Culture (here’s my review of Culture Brewing OB), then head over to Belching Beaver for a few more. Belching Beaver OB is not as swanky as Culture OB, but at least you can get a seat.
The beer at Belching Beaver is very good (except for the one keg that was off, but that is something you need to expect in craft brewing occasionally). For reviews of five of their beers see my review of Belching Beaver North Park. I like the room in North Park a bit better, but the one in OB is good, too.
