Distilled Water Home Brewing Uses
Distilled water is water that has been boiled into vapor and condensed back into liquid in a separate container. distilled water doesn't provide you with minerals like calcium and magnesium that you get from tap water. Distilled water doesn't contain its own minerals, as they were left behind during evaporation. Though distillation is effective at removing microbes, minerals, and salts from water, it leaves water tasting flat and bland. Distilled water is similar to Reverse Osmosis water in that since it is pure, you will need to add in brewing salts and minerals to add back the compounds that make beer taste great.
